layout design

The following are a series of projects featuring a blend of illustration and layout design.

photoshop - Illustrator - InDesign

Venom Inspired Typeface

This is a typeface developed from scratch in a typography class during my time at university. The typeface needed to in some way relate to the word "symbiosis" and me being me decided that the character Venom was the perfect vessel for a typeface.

We were then required to create a zine to promote our typeface. We were restricted to just 3 colours (including paper colour) as well as all images had to be constructed using only the typeface. I had the idea to create a zine that looked as if it was being taken over by Venom in the form of my typeface. For a final touch, I created grungy textures in the workshop with various inks and textured surfaces to then bring into Photoshop and refine.

The final product was a better understanding of layout design, as well as a fully functioning typeface.

Design fabrication

I was tasked with creating design documents that showed the full fabrication of a design from its conception to step by step instructions on how to replicate it. There was a lot of information that needed to be featured on the page so it was a real challenge to make it all work. I also hand drew all of the step by step instructions.

Tabletop game

This project required a game book for a tabletop game. It was designed to look as if it was a fantasy field guide and was a lot of fun to put together. All components of the book including all textures were created by myself using Photoshop and InDesign.
